"don't wanna break up again" starts with some sounds that really reminded me of some Mariah Carey track. not sure which [it took a while of humming the tune before I materialized "I must confess blank blank for you" that I learned the song I was looking for was "Sittin' Up In My Room" by Brandy (1994)]
after listening to "Sittin' Up In My Room," I do think the verses of "don't wanna break up again" have a similar sing-song rise and fall of the chorus of "Sittin' Up In My Room".
hehe. earlier after listening to "Sittin' Up In My Room", I listened to "The Boy is Mine" by Brandy and Monica. However this is a very different song [technically it's a reimagining of that track]
