First listen. Deluxe.
There are parts I like about "Shot for Me." However, I couldn't help but place it at "-1" instead of "0."
I like the instrumentation of this track enough to give it a "1" despite the seemingly heavier use of autotune. ("Doing it Wrong")
Nice. This track is stripped and the autotune is minimal - essentially just for cleaning, crisp recording purposes. ("Look What You've Done")
I like the chorus but I'm less interested in the rest of the song. ("HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)")
Songs in bold are the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition.
3: "Take Care" (ft. Rihanna);
2: "Headlines"; "The Motto" (ft. Lil Wayne);
1: "Make Me Proud" (ft. Nicki Minaj); "Doing It Wrong"; "The Real Her" (ft. Lil Wayne and André 3000); "Look What You've Done"; "HYFR (Hell Ya Fucking Right)" (ft. Lil Wayne); "Practice";
0: "Over My Dead Body"; "Crew Love" (ft. The Weeknd); "Buried Alive Interlude" (ft. Kendric Lamar); "Under Ground Kings"; "We'll Be Fine" (ft. Birdman); "Lord Knows"; "Cameras / Good Ones Go Interlude"; "The Ride";
-1: "Shot for Me"; "Marvins Room";
Summary:
This album is too long. I think I might have liked this album better back when I was younger. As it stands, I think my taste in music has veered away from R&B. Perhaps I'm also not a fan of the use of autotune on some of the tracks. Note that I don't have anything against an artist using autotune. I'm merely trying to say that I personally don't like the sound.
Overall Rating: 3.8/5
Favorite Song: "Take Care" (ft. Rihanna)
