First listen.
As I'm listening to the third track, I find it hard to distinguish which track I like more and if I should be giving values different than just "2".

Third listen.
Moved "Under the Bridge" from "2" to "3" and moved both "Scar Tissue" and "Higher Ground" from "3" to "4".
"Soul to Squeeze" has a good-sounding bass line.
Moved "Otherside" from "1" to "2". --20210629--
Interesting. I never truly realized that "By the Way" is mostly a bunch of words artistically being crammed together. There's some semblance of a theme, but difficult to parse.
4: "Scar Tissue"; "Higher Ground"; 3: "Under the Bridge"; 2: "Give It Away"; "Californication"; "Otherside"; "By the Way"; "My Friends"; "Road Tripping"; "Fortune Faded"; "Save the Population";
1: "Soul to Squeeze"; "Suck My Kiss"; "Parallel Universe"; "Breaking the Girl";
0: "Universally Speaking";
-1:
Summary:
The ratings for this album were shifted towards the higher ratings, but I couldn't help but feel underwhelmed. Perhaps the album serves a more nostalgic experience for me. As a side note, the corresponding Spotify Album Radio was full of tracks I had listened to back in high school and it was great to hear many of those songs again. Of course, this album lacks the hits that came after the album's release, such as "Dani California" and "Snow (Hey Oh)". With respect to time, this is no fault of the album. However, the knowledge of their existence at the very least has a small impact on the album rating. With that being said, there does not appear to be any commercially available compilations which would take the place of this album. Speaking of hits, this album excludes "Can't Stop" on the album; oddly, the DVD includes the music video for the song.
Overall Rating: 4.2/5
