The Killers - Firefly 2015

Festival Plan: I absolutely have to watch The Killers perform.

Pre-Festival Thoughts:
The Killers have a great sound and plenty of great hits (e.g., Spaceman, Human, and Smile Like You Mean It).

Of course, while they have great songs and I'm excited to see them perform, none of their songs are among my current list of favorites.

I gave The Killers an 8 out of 10 for their music (tied for 5th) and a 10 out of 10 for my desire to see them perform (tied for second).

While I doubt it would happen, I hope they do a cover of Brown Eyed Girl; setlist.fm has recorded The Killers as having covered Brown Eyed Girl on 4 out of 882 setlists.

Setlist:
1) Mr. Brightside

2) Spaceman
3) The Way It Was
4) Smile Like You Mean It
-- Spaceman piano snippet and transitions to the next song:
5) Bling (Confession of a King) -- not so bad

6) Human
7) Somebody Told Me
8) Bad Moon Rising (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover)
9) The Bucket (Kings of Leon cover)
10) For Reasons Unknown

-- band member introductions
11) From Here On Out
12) A Dustland Fairytale
13) Use Somebody (Kings of Leon cover)
14) Read My Mind

15) Runaways
16) All These Things That I've Done

Encore:
E1) This Is Your Life
E2) When You Were Young

Post-Festival Thoughts:
Theoretically I would have wanted to listen to The Killers back in 2004. But at that point in time I would not have been the type to buy concert tickets.

The next best thing would have been to hear them play at Firefly 2012, but I didn't know about Firefly until I had already made plans to visit California.

This was unfortunate, because I would have also loved seeing Jack White (#2), CAKE (#3), and Death Cab for Cutie (#1). There could have also been the possibility that I'd learn about Walk the Moon three years sooner. I should just go through all the popular festival and listen to all the "small" acts...

Getting back on topic, I'm happy to have finally seen The Killers perform, but like watching Jack Johnson last year, I felt like it was a couple years too late. There is, however, a big difference between Jack Johnson and The Killers.

I was a huge fan of Jack Johnson's music and it continues to be an inspiration to my own. In contrast, The Killer's music is great, but has a different sound than what I'm looking for, so I never listened to it as much.

Overall, I eventually plan to sweep through The Killer's various albums and give their songs a solid listen. Until then, I can only say, thanks for the great concert.
