Reason for Listening:
#48 on the Billboard 200 (Week of 20191102). Weeks on Chart between 30 and 50.*
Last Week: 42 | Peak: 3 | Weeks on Chart: 59.
*While this was the goal, I had skipped two hip-hop albums (#43 Hoodie SZN and #45 Death Race For Love) and felt 59 weeks was close.
I was not familiar with the name "Lauren Daigle" before today. I had heard at least one of her songs before, but I had mistook her song(s) for being Adele's - due to the similarity in her voice to Adele's voice.
Released 20180907.
13 songs. 51:35. Look Up Child (2018)
13+1 songs. 51:35+04:33. Look Up Child (Amazon) (2018)

First listen.
"Still Rolling Stones" sounds familiar. I wonder if I heard it before.
When I first heard "You Say" I thought the artist was doing an Adele cover. And then I felt as if that might have explained the familiarity of the previous songs as well. I later realized that this artist just sounds a lot like Adele and that I've previously heard "You Say" thinking it was by Adele.
Songs in bold are the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition.
3: "You Say";
2: "Still Rolling Stones"; "Rescue"; "Your Wings"; "Everything"; "Look Up Child"; "Rebel Heart";
1: "This Girl"; "Love Like This"; "Inevitable"; "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus";
0: "Losing My Religion"; "Remember";
Summary:
Although the Wikipedia article labeling the album with the genre "contemporary christian music," I detected very little Christian lyrics throughout the album. Generally, the songs are more subtle when it comes to Christian themes compared to other Christian music. In fact, apparently the artist said in an interview (Jan 2019) that she sees herself as an artist (see quote at end of this post or the full interview on YouTube). In any case, the album had a calm, soothing sound, but only "You Say" stood out as a song worth listening to multiple times.
Overall Rating: 3.0/5
Favorite Song: "You Say"
Lauren Daigle 104.3 MYfm interview (YouTube.com):
Interviewer @8:38: "[...] What do you call yourself? How do you name yourself? Do you call yourself still a Christian artist even in the mainstream, or what do you call yourself?”
Lauren Daigle @8:59: "I feel like those labels get put on you by other people. [...] Well I was reading an article, I read them like here and there, [...] and I was reading one. And one of them's like Christian artist and another ones just artist. So I think part of me is just an artist because it encompasses everything. That's kind of how I see myself."
