First listen. Deluxe
I like the bass in "Who I Am"
I like the overall sound of "Denim Jacket" but I don't like the main line in the chorus: "Do you still wear that denim jacket? I let you get away. I let you get away."
"Don't Wanna Know" is catchy but I guess I don't particularly care for the lyrics or theme.
"poona": "Do he lay it down for you, touch your poona like this?" ("Don't Wanna Know")
This version adds a verse rapped by Cardi B which comes after the bridge ("Girls Like You" (ft. Cardi B))
Songs in bold are the bonus tracks on the deluxe edition.
4: "Girls Like You" (ft. Cardi B);
3: "What Lovers Do" (ft. SZA); "Girls Like You"; "Don't Wanna Know" (ft. Kendrick Lamar);
2: "Wait"; "Whiskey" (ft. A$AP Rocky); "Closure"; "Cold" (ft. Future);
1: "Who I Am" (ft. LunchMoney Lewis); "Plastic Rose";
0: "Best 4 U"; "Lips On You"; "Bet My Heart"; "Denim Jacket"; "Visions";
-1: "Help Me Out" (with Julia Michaels);
Summary:
I could be wrong, but I remember liking the majority of Songs About Jane. My thoughts on this album, however, are more distributed. Maybe I should give the album a higher rating, like a "4." However, my intuition decided to give it a 3.4 for the standard edition and a 3.6 for the deluxe edition.
Overall Rating (Standard): 3.4/5
Overall Rating (Deluxe): 3.6/5
Favorite Song (Standard): "Girls Like You"
Favorite Song (Deluxe): "Girls Like You" (ft. Cardi B)
20191120 Comment:
Earlier today I added Billboard 200 history to various albums, including Red Pill Blues, which didn't have Billboard 200 information because they were old albums which have already left the charts. It turns out, however, that Red Pill Blues was on the Billboard 200, having re-entered at #198.
#198 on the Billboard 200 (Week of 20191123).
Last Week: - | Peak: 2 | Weeks on Chart: 105.
