First listen.
I listen to the first nine tracks. I don't take any notes.
--20200122--
I finished listening to the album. Again without notes.
A couple of hours later, I began listening to the album again.
It's funny because I read an article that complained about this album along the lines of this song "Premonition" (Intro)
I like the slow beat and chorus of this track ("In Too Deep")
I like the fast rap at the end of this track ("Godzilla")
3: "Godzilla" (ft. Juice WRLD);
2: "In Too Deep"; "Marsh"; "Little Engine"; "Farewell";
1: "Unaccommodating" (ft. Young M.A); "You Gon' Learn" (ft. Royce Da 5'9" & White Gold); "Alfred - Interlude"; "Darkness"; "Stepdad"; "No Regrets" (ft. Don Toliver);
0: "Premonition" (Intro); "Those Kinda Nights" (ft. Ed Sheeran); "Stepdad - Intro"; "I Will" (ft. KXNG Crooked, Royce da 5'9" and Joell Ortiz);
-1: "Yah Yah" (ft. Royce Da 5'9", Black Thought, Q-Tip and Denaun); "Never Love Again";
-2: "Lock It Up" (ft. Anderson .Paak);
Summary:
This album was decent, but none of the tracks jumped out at me as being noteworthy. With that being said, I'm not familiar with how I would have reacted to some of Eminem's greatest hits back when I first heard them. Would they have stood out as being noteworthy back then the way I find them noteworthy now?
In determining my favorite song, I listened to "In Too Deep," "Godzilla," "Little Engine," and "Farewell" again. I end up picking "Godzilla," mainly because of the speed rap at the end. I moved the song from a "2" to a "3."
Overall Rating: 3.8/5
Favorite Song: "Godzilla" (ft. Juice WRLD)

Music to Be Murdered By debuts as #1 on the Billboard 200. Being a surprise release, it also blocked Manic (Halsey) from debuting at #1; that is, if the album was announced in advance, then Halsey would have potentially chosen a different release date.
If I were to guess, the album will remain at #1 for a couple of weeks. With that being said, while I thought Eminem's album was the obvious #1 pick over Halsey's album, numbers for the two albums were on equal orders of magnitude (MTBMB: 275K overall, of which 121K are from sales; Manic: 233K overall, of which 173K are from sales). On the other hand, Eminem's surprise release means it had no single(s) to hype up the corresponding album release while Manic was preceded by six singles. This perspective illustrates the sheer power of Eminem's fan base.
#1 on the Billboard 200 (Week of 20200201).
